Specialized 1 Day Workshops

You may opt for one of my specialized workshops or a general skills focus. For multiple days you may wish to select two or more workshops to further your learning experience.

  • A unique offering to spend a full day in the field with me, exploring and shooting as I would do on my own.

This Photography Workshop isn’t your standard Photography Workshop with an itinerary. Instead, we’ll be going out searching for images exactly as I do when on my own.

This approach to learning and shooting is unique in the “Workshop World” and I’m confident you’ll learn so much more with this approach than any other type of Workshop. This workshop is my favorite to teach and is the most valuable workshop I offer. Plus, no other workshop like this exists.

  • My Art of Seeing Photography Workshop focuses on observation and composition in Landscape and Nature Photography.  This full day workshop will teach you many new photography skills while we practice in stunning landscapes.  Composition is often the single most challenging aspects of Nature Photography for many people.  We will practice in the field under various conditions and with different subjects.

    Workshop Focus

Observing Nature and using observations for compositions.

Building a Composition from the sky to the foreground or from foreground to sky

Learning where to look to find interesting elements in Nature. Certain areas are richer in opportunities no matter your location.

Lens selection to create the image based upon observations and compositional elements.

Seeing beyond the obvious elements in Nature. This requires slowing down and spending time with the subjects.

Slow Photography approach. We’re not going to rush this day chasing conditions.

  • The intimate landscape is defined by a smaller section of the landscape, often below the horizon line.  Elements of Nature are combined and composed in a way which highlight the subject and eliminate distracting elements surrounding the subject.  This is much more difficult than it sounds!  This workshop will build your skills to create more meaningful intimate landscape photographs.

    Workshop Focus

Observing Nature on a smaller scale.

Using overall conditions to guide our eyes towards smaller scenes.

Learning where to look to find interesting elements in Nature.

Spending time on each composition to accentuate elements while removing distractions.

Creative framing to exclude elements, not relying on software.

Slow Photography approach. We’re not going to rush this day chasing conditions.
